human tusks.
Human Tusks is an instrumental post-metal band based in Birmingham, England.
Born out of a writer’s block experienced by guitarist Johnny Marsh (Ex T3TRA, At The Water’s Edge), Human Tusks was intended to be a departure from the overly-refined prog metal of his previous band. Finding satisfaction in a classic setup of heavy, canorous guitars, grinding bass tones and rumbling natural drums, and eschewing vocals entirely, new music was written in a cascade.
Those new songs would eventually form the Elsewhere LP, a self-produced album equally inspired by bands such as Russian Circles, Pelican and Deftones as by the aesthetics and principles of the Bauhaus movement.
The Studio.
Built at Shear HQ, in the heart of the UK, Shear Studio is a space where musicians, vocalists, producers and writers can all come together to work in a creative and collaborative environment.
Converted from an 18th century stables, it has been used as a practice studio since the early 2000s and enjoyed discreetly by recording artists and rock royalty. Recently the decision was made to uncover this hidden gem and renovate the studio to allow for recording, alongside the development of a mixing space / writers room.
Specialising in recording for unique, less clinical sound and vocals + voice-over for TV and film.
Shear Sessions.
We love to invite some of our favorite artists to come and record with us here at Shear HQ. These sessions are super stripped back, relaxed and allow for a mix of covers and original tracks.
These sessions are recorded and free to listen to on streaming services, or to watch on our YouTube channel.
